How Fields Config Works

This is where you teach the AI copilot about your form. The copilot doesn't see your actual website — it only knows what you tell it here. The more detail you provide, the better it can help your users.

1. Instructions

Tell the AI how to talk — tone, focus areas, what to avoid. Plain English.

2. Fields

List the fields on your form. Add help text so the AI knows what each field means.

3. Rules

Add "if this, then that" rules. Example: if user picks "Other", ask them to specify.

Custom Instructions

Write in plain English how the AI should behave. Think of it as a note to a helpful assistant. Examples:

"Be friendly and encouraging. Focus on helping users provide complete information. If someone seems confused about a field, give an example. Don't use technical jargon."

Form Fields

This is the most important part. The AI only knows what you tell it here. List every field on your form — even a rough list makes a huge difference. Without fields, the AI gives generic advice. With fields, it gives specific, useful guidance like "You're missing the Baseline field — this is where you explain what the claim compares against."

Tip: You don't need to match your form exactly. Just add the field name, set the type, mark if it's required, and add help text explaining what it's for. The AI is smart enough to work with partial info.

Conditional Rules

Optional. When a user selects a specific value in a dropdown or radio button, the AI can give extra guidance. For example: "When Claim Type is 'Predicting a future outcome', ask about the assumptions behind the prediction."

What is SmartFormsPro?

SmartFormsPro adds an AI-powered copilot to any web form. When a user visits your page, a chat widget appears that can read the form fields, understand what's required, and guide the user step by step — answering questions, flagging missing info, and suggesting improvements. It works on any website with one line of code.

How It Works

1️⃣

You create a Project

Go to My Projects and add a new project. You get a unique API key for each project you create.

2️⃣

Configure the copilot

In Fields Config, define your form fields, help text, validation rules, and conditional logic. Add Custom Instructions to tell the AI how to behave.

3️⃣

Embed on your website

Go to Embed Code, copy the script tag, and paste it on your project before the closing </body> tag. Integration guides are included for every major platform.

4️⃣

Users get AI help

A chat bubble appears on your page. Users can ask questions, click "Review My Form" (sends all field values to the AI), or "Walk Me Through" for step-by-step guidance.

📈 Analytics

View total messages, unique sessions, daily message volume, and top user questions. Filter by 7, 30, or 90 days.

⚙ Fields Config

Define your form fields in JSON — labels, types, required/optional, help text, dropdown options, and conditional logic rules. This tells the AI what the form is about and how to help users. You can also add Custom Instructions in plain English (e.g., "Be concise", "Always ask about the counterfactual").

🎨 Branding

Customize the copilot widget's name, description, and primary color to match your brand.

🌐 Domains

Restrict which websites can use your API key. Leave empty to allow all domains, or add specific domains (supports wildcards like *.example.com).

💬 Chat Logs

Review all conversations between users and the copilot. See user messages, AI responses, form context sent, and timestamps. Click any row to expand the full conversation.

View your current plan (Free / Pro / Enterprise), monthly message limits, and choose the AI model powering your copilot — Sonnet 4.6 (fast) or Opus 4.6 (most capable).

Fields Config Reference

The fields config is a JSON object that defines your form. Here's what each part does:

title The name of your form/application shown in the copilot header.

copilot_name What the AI calls itself (e.g., "Claims Copilot").

copilot_role The AI's main instruction (e.g., "You help people improve their submissions").

fields[] Array of form fields. Each field has: id, label, type (text, email, textarea, select, radio, date, file), required (true/false), help (guidance text), options (for select/radio).

conditional_rules[] Rules that trigger AI guidance based on field values. Each rule has: when_field, has_value, and guidance (what the AI should say).

certification_text Optional checkbox text shown before submission (e.g., legal disclaimer).

Widget Features

What your users can do with the copilot widget:

Review My Form — Scans all form fields on the page and sends the current values to the AI for a full review. The AI checks for missing required fields, suggests improvements, and flags issues.

Walk Me Through — The AI guides the user through each field step by step, explaining what's needed and why.

Free-form chat — Users can ask any question about the form. The AI responds based on your fields config and custom instructions.

Auto form scanning — The widget automatically detects all <input>, <select>, and <textarea> elements on the host page. No code changes to your existing form needed.
